Landed at Cochin International Airport and heading straight to the hills? A Kochi Airport to Munnar taxi is the easiest way to make that switch — no waiting for shared transport, no changing vehicles halfway. You step out of the airport, your driver is already there with a name board, and the next stop is Tea Country. The ride itself takes close to four to five hours, based on traffic near Kothamangalam and the peak roads past Adimali, so most groups either start early in the morning or plan a stop for meals on the way. This route is used all year, but conditions change a bit by season. Taxis fill up quickly in December and summer, so booking two or three days early helps you get the vehicle you want
Costs shift a little based on the vehicle, the month, and if you're booking a one-way drop or a round trip with a couple of days mixed in. Here's an approximate breakdown of current rates:
| Services | Sedan | Lodgy | Innova |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kochi Airport to Munnar Taxi | ₹3,000 | ₹3,500 | ₹4,000 |
Toll charges and the driver's daily allowance are added separately, and we always confirm the final number before you book — not after you've reached Munnar. If your flight lands late or gets delayed, we track it ourselves, so there is no extra charge for the wait.
Flight tracking included - We keep an eye on your flight status. If it's running behind schedule, your driver adjusts the pickup time on their own; no phone call is needed from your end.
One quoted price, no changes later - The fare you're given at booking is what you pay at the end of the trip. Toll and parking are the only additions, and both are billed at actual cost.
Drivers who know the ghat road - The stretch after Adimali has sharp turns and steady climbs. Our drivers have done this route for years and know where to stop for a break, a good cup of tea, or a photo without losing time.
Clean cars are checked before every trip - Since this is a long drive, we look at tires, AC, and general upkeep before the car leaves for pickup, not just once a month.
Support available any time - Early morning flights are common on this route, so someone from our side is reachable well before sunrise if your plans shift.
Sedan - Ideal for two to four people with regular bags. A good pick for couples or small families who want a smoother ride than a hatchback without paying SUV rates.
SUV - Seats up to six and handles the hill curves well. Works best when there's more luggage than usual, or when the group is a bit bigger, and everyone wants to travel together.
Innova Crysta - The one most families end up choosing for this particular route. Fits six to seven passengers, holds up well on the four-to-five-hour drive, and has enough boot space for bags without anyone squeezed in.
Tempo Travellers - These are also available if a larger group like an office trip or an extended family is heading up together.
Cochin International Airport to Munnar is nearly 120 to 128 kilometres away, and cars usually cover it in four to five hours, depending on traffic and weather. The regular route heads through Angamaly, Kothamangalam, and Adimali before driving up into Munnar past the tea blocks.
The stretch from Adimali onward is where the trip looks most scenic — twisty roads, waterfalls on the side path, and the weather dropping quickly as you reach high up. Most drivers stop near Cheeyappara or Valara falls when timing allows, since it is a normal rest spot nearly halfway up the climb.
September through March is when this route is at its best — the weather stays cool, the roads are clear of monsoon landslides, and visibility on the ghat sections is good. December and January get the biggest holiday rush, so cars and lodge rooms both get taken up early.
Rainy months (June to August) bring massive rain on the peak stretch, and sudden landslides blocking the mountain roads are not unusual. If you're travelling during this time, an early morning start helps, since the roads tend to be clearer before the afternoon rains set in.
